PSA Reflection

* A PSA is a public service announcement, meaning a message that you want the public to know about or to keep in mind not to do. Like drinking and driving, underage drinking, texting and driving, animal abuse, etc. There is a lot of topics that you could do a public service announcement on.

* I learned that just with underage kids with that out of 100,000 Americans under the age of 21, 1.4 people were killed in drunk driving fatalities just in 2011. There were other statics about it too, but I have heard too many stories about underage kids driving that have been drinking, they shouldn't even be drinking in the first place.

* I love my final project! I think that it is the best project that I have done in digital art. It really took me awhile to figure out how to do things and to try not to get really mad at my lap top.

* The most difficult thing about my project was probably selecting the background and deleting it, I'm glad that I could just delete it and make it white and then inverse it. That made it a lot easier! Then maybe at the end I couldn't figure out why the text was going under the color box but then I moved the layer down and figured it out.

* I feel more confident about my digital art skills now then I was about half way through the trimester, to tell you the truth I hated photoshop, I just could not understand how to do things or remember how to do them. But finally today and a little bit before, things started to click and I could do things without getting mad. The biggest thing that I learned was to ask for help when you need it!

PSA Plan

My plan for the PSA project is to do something on underage drinking, saying the statics and a picture of high schoolers drinking, possibly driving, passed out, something that will make my point. I care about this topic because it is a big thing in high school, kids drinking and driving. It is something that is close to me because of my family. I want to say that it is a bad thing to do when you are young because you don't know a lot about it and it is dangerous and could mess up your whole life.

Typography Blog Post

  • What is your typography piece about? Why did you choose this subject?-- My typography piece is about duck poems and things of a duck like the feet and beak. I choose this subject because I love ducks and I really really want one!
  • Did you choose specific words for your piece? Why did you choose the words you did? -- I really wanted to have poems about ducks just because right at first I didn't know what to do but then I thought about it and thought that I should have poems just because when you think of poems you don't usually write about ducks so I wanted something that most people wouldn't know and then my whole duck would be filled with duck poems!
  • This is a tedious process, be honest! How are you feeling about typography now that your done? Hate it? Enjoying the final product? Was it worth your time?-- At first I didn't like it because it frustrated me a lot but then Tiffany helped me out a little bit and it started to come together better with me knowing what I was doing. It was actually really cool because it looks like a duck when you take away the picture and I thought that was pretty awesome.
  • What might you try different next time?-- Different types of words in there, poems, songs, words that I think go with the topic and then a really cool picture to do it with! Also I would look over the end piece and make should I didn't leave any random letters anywhere like I did with this one.

Two Favortie Portraits

I really like this portrait because this really fits Haley's personality because she LOVES donuts and she is hiding some of her faces from us so it is like she wants them but wants to hide that she wants them, which she does sometimes.

I like this one because I like the background of it and the lighting, also the fact that she is in black and white and then the fruit loop is in color. She looks happy and it portrays her personality as well.

iKatherine

My theme is iKatherine because I was in the CNA program last year and now I'm in the health occupations this year and I thought I could use things in the classroom to use for this project. So I used Katherine to model them.
Why did you choose these poses? - I chose the pose with her just standing there with the heart because it can represent a CNA or a nurse teaching someone about the heart. Standing there and pointing out things. I chose the other pose because CNA's listen to the heart beat a lot and we had a baby doll in the room so I had her use it.
Why did you highlight the details that you did?
I highlighted just the heart so you could tell what it was and then I highlighted the blankets and the stethoscope and the dress just so they would stand out and you could tell what she was doing.

Favorite Filtered Picture

This picture was my favorite out of the ten that I did. I chose to do water paper and have the fiber length at 3, the brightness at 44, and the contrast at 69. I wanted the lowest fiber length because with the higher ones it made the objects in the picture fade away. The brightness I was scrolling back and forth until I saw a good amount of the darkness with a little brightness. I did the same with the contrast and didn't want it to be too dark and take away from the objects in the picture.

Filtered Pictures

I used poster edge and moved around the edge thickness and the edge intensity and posterization for picture 1.

For picture 2 I used glowing edges and moved around the edge with to a lower number, the edge brightness to a higher number and the smoothness to a lower/middle number.

Pop Art Critique

The pop art that I am looking at is by Pat Kidder and it is of a cat, I like how the cat fur is different colors and sometimes the cat's face is two different colors. The whiskers and the eyes stand out at me and look wicked cool. The eye is reflects different colors. Plus the cat is pretty cute!

Rules of Thirds

Rules of thirds is a guideline that applies to the process of composing visual images.  The image should be divided into nine equal parts/squares, they should be placed along the lines or at the intersections. It creates more tension, energy, and interest by aligning the subject within the picture.

Depth of Field

Depth of field is the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. There can be a high depth of field and a low/shallow depth of field. In high depth of field the picture is clear and nothing in the back ground is blurred. In shallow depth of field the background blurred and one thing is in focus.
This is low/shallow depth of field.
This is high depth of field.

Wordle

This is my wordle that I made of the picture from The Scream.

Concentration Pictures

My concentration is of dogs because I love dogs and I'm usually always around them so I figured that I would take pictures of the dogs that I'm around. I took some of my boyfriend and my grandparents dog because they were playing with each other the other day and having fun and in the pictures you can tell that there is a connections between them. Plus the connection with a man and a dog is a strong one.

Pocket Portrait

I chose my cell phone, headphones, a pencil, change, and a gift card to walmart, and myself.
I chose my cell phone because  it is usually always with me unless I lose it. I had to borrow Blakey's headphones because I didn't have mine but I wanted them in the picture because I love listening to music and unless I'm in a car then I'm using headphones. I always have a pencil with me because of school unless someone steals them from me. I really like picking up change off the ground and saving it for awhile and then cashing it in. I had my walmart gift card with me even though it is all used up but I go to walmart all the time. At least 3 times a week or more. Then I am in the picture even though I am somewhat hard to see.
